Donald’s primary focus is providing investment management services to business owners, small institutions, and multi-employer pension plans.
He has intimate knowledge of the needs of business owners, having previously worked exclusively for a wealthy private family in Toronto. Prior to joining 1832 Investment Counsel™, he was National Marketing Manager for a major Canadian brokerage firm’s Private Asset Management Group.
Donald holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (Economics) from the University of Manitoba. In 1993, he earned the Certified Investment Manager (CIM) designation and became a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI). To better serve his entrepreneurial client base, Donald completed the Family Enterprise Advisor (FEA) program in 2018.
Donald believes in giving back to his community and as such has been involved in a number of charities over the years; most notably the Winnipeg Art Gallery where he was involved for over 22 years.
Donald celebrated 40 years in the investment business in 2024 and that after watching client behavior for four decades, jokes he has become an encyclopedia of cautionary tales!
